Wyatt began learning guitar at the age of 8 in his small hometown of Rolla, ND. He started lessons with his school choir teacher, who also happened to play some guitar. After his teacher moved away, two years into the lessons, Wyatt decided to continue teaching himself and developing his love for music, from age 11 to 18, with a strong emphasis on rock and heavy metal. During that time, he was involved with several school music activities and also attended the International Music Camp for two consecutive summers, taking sessions on playing and recording for rock bands.

Wyatt then studied guitar performance at the University of North Dakota (UND), where he discovered blues, jazz, and classical guitar. While in his undergraduate studies, Wyatt learned all about music theory and how to read and perform classical and jazz music on guitar. To develop those skills, he studied under professor Thomas Anderson for classical guitar, and professors Mike Blake and Kris Eylands for jazz. During his four years at UND, Wyatt performed in numerous college music showcases on classical guitar, two major solo recitals, multiple jazz bands, several solo wedding ceremonies, and regularly played in the city’s premier wedding/event band. At the same time, Wyatt began his first teaching job at a local music store/school, where he discovered his passion for teaching students of all ages and all genres.

Immediately following undergraduate college, Wyatt was accepted into the graduate program of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he pursued a masters degree in Guitar Performance, under the direction of classical guitar master David Tanenbaum. During his time at the conservatory, Wyatt advanced his classical guitar abilities by a significant amount, studied the full history of the guitar, and took classes on how to better teach students and how to convey musical ideas to every level of player. Teachers and performers whom Wyatt has taken classes or masterclasses from include: Larry Ferrara, Marc Teicholz, David Leisner, Richard Savino, Sergio Assad, and Dusan Bogsanovic. Wyatt graduated with his Masters in Music in May of 2019 and then moved from San Francisco to Austin, TX, where he and his wife are currently located.

Since moving to Austin, Wyatt has been teaching high quality guitar lessons for all genres, both privately and for a local, reputable music academy, which has gained him experience with a large amount of students in the area. During the year of 2020, Wyatt quickly learned how to give effective and efficient guitar lessons at any level online, via Zoom and Skype. With normal life returning, Wyatt has also returned to normal ways of in-person teaching, as well as maintaining a presence on Zoom, which he primarily uses to teach students outside of the Austin area. Wyatt continues to grow his presence as a classical musician and teacher, and as a performer, he has played for audiences all over the Central Texas area and currently plays regularly for the band High Bounty.
